Okay some advice here. I have a 69 f100 with a 352 and i plan on putting some money into the engine to get some decent performance, any suggestions?
If you decide to get a new distributor, consider our custom curved Duraspark Distributor built with our new Full Length Oil Impregnated Bronze Bushing. The full length bushing improves timing stability and spark scatter. If stock appearance is not an issue, take a look at our one piece D.U.I. Distributor. Whether you choose the Duraspark or the D.U.I., we curve each on a distributor machine based on your engine combination. Please see them at:
It is a lot more complex than that. Yes, the FE series used the same exterior mold for several years, (most had the infamous 352 number cast on the front) but they were cast different inside. Mostly it was the bore that changed - the cylinder walls are a bigger diameter on the larger engine.
But Ford used different cams, pistons, rods, cranks, even the webbing that supports the main bearings changed. There is a lot of parts you can swap around, but not all. Do it wrong and your engine is junk.
There is lots of information on what you can and can't do available - but the best is to find a machine shop that knows FEs and follow their suggestions.
Okay thanks, but that means that the engine parts are atleast somewhat universal right
Yes the FE motors have a lot of interchangeability but as WillyB stated you have to be careful as some combinations just don't work.
In addition to the blocks cast with 352 many of the later blocks were cast with a mirror image 501.These were both production ( installed on assembly line) and service ( sold as replacement ) blocks.
i just installed a new msd blaster coil, same size as the stock one, but a little more juice i think, and now my truck runs like poop and i have black smoke coming from my exhaust. i thought maybe it was from the lack of a resistor like the directions say, but the parts guy at the store pulled up a microfiche and showed me that its not necessary and the wiring has it built in.

We suggest part no. 33820 for the D.U.I.
If you want to maintain the stock Ford look, we recommend our Duraspark, part no. 33720.
