TRW vs Moog

for tierods....I always hear how great Moog are...but TRW, and several other brands, carry lifetime warranties vs Moogs one year....

Mooge (with grease zerks). I have allway's used Mooge parts and thought they were lifetime warranty on a personal vehicle. Just put Mooge lower ball joints on my 01 F150 Sprcab.

Have not had a problem with TRW either. But a Mooge fan.

TRW and MOOG are both owned by Federal-Mogul. So either one would be fine.

As for zerks, I would prefer to have them.

I've used Moog (exclusively) for almost 20 yrs. and the only problems have been from lack of service/maintenance on the customers part.IMO, a lifetime warranty is worthless if you have to replace the part(s) and "eat" the labor.I've never had a problem with TRW bearings, but I have had problems with there steering/suspension parts. But, I'm not saying that they're not a good part,I would rather pay a little more now than have to do it again.

I prefer Moog for the grease zerks, but have used TRW before. I dont know if they are a site sponser but www.rockauto.com will get you Moog anything. I think I saw them as site sponsers at one time, you can check the vendors forum to make sure.

from what the Hayne's manual says, on the 4x4, the lower ball joints can't be replaced without replacing the entire lower control arm.

it seems so many on here talk about just popping the old one out and popping the new one in....

what's the deal?
TIA.

I've seen the same in my manual. From what I've read in the 97-03 forum and the write up on ball joints. The uppers require a new control arm and the lowers just pop out. I plan on putting Moog with zerks on my 97 when I get around to having the time to do them.
