have to replace tie rod ends ect. Advance auto has both brands. drivers tie rod end for example.
Moog = 76.99
TRW = 54.99
Don't mind spending a little more but how is moog better?
Thanks
They're both quality parts and both are owned by parent company Federal-Mogul, for me personally i can't justify the higher cost for Moog, if the TRW's have zerk fittings i'd just go with them and save some money.
Moog isn't any better than TRW. But the TRW that Advance sells isn't really TRW. It's only a TRW box. And that's why it's cheaper. It's like the Spicer "Perfect Circle" stuff that Autozone sold. It wasn't really made by Spicer. (but, even the REAL Spicer stuff isn't always made by Spicer either)
TRW makes some some really good stuff. They make (or they did make) the OEM ball joints and tie rod ends for late model F-150's. You can't really go by the name on the box, you have to know who really makes it. For example I ordered SPICER ball joints for my 79 F-250 from Bronco Graveyard. They were supposed to be the same as the original ball joints that were put in from the factory. They were in a Yukon box, with another genuine Spicer box inside. But the ball joints were actually stamped........ "TRW"
.....long story short, don't buy tie rods from a local parts store.
Seems that would be false advertising. If you go to there web site there not in a box and are said to be moog or TRW and one other really cheap OE I think. If not local parts store any suggestions. Could the OE be original equipment? it only has a 1 yr warranty the other two are life time.
I'm a mechanic, change LOTS of front end parts on LOTS of different makes and models.
Moog is the best out there plain and simple. Like someone else said, for some applications they have a "problem solver" part.
In the end no aftermarket part moog or TRW or whatever else still doesn't last as long as the OEM stuff does.(as far as ball joints and steering parts go) I also don't know how many people own something long enough to put more than one set of ball joints in something.(unless you own an IFS Chevy..LOL) Maybe it does happen sometimes, but not that often. If it has a greese fitting I usually don't care, but still go w/ Moog for everything I drive!
