Fuel pump

I just replaced my fuel filter and my truck still runs like crap. I went back and listened to my fuel pump and it goes from a high pitch to a low pitch and all in between. When it does this the Bronco starts running like its out of gas. Could this be a pump or could this be a fuel regulator?

Ford said they would do a complete diag. on it for $135.00

Update your profile, it says you have a Ranger.

But yeah, your fp sounds suspect. Of course it could be a bad connection for the fp, either power or ground. I'd check all your wiring carefully.
