does anyone know the thread pitch on the torque converter bolts that hold it to the fly wheel?
I lost the original nuts. I have a nut that kinda fits on and it's a 3/8 by 24 threat pitch. It threads on a few threads and than gets really hard to spin. Did Ford put somthing like a 20 or 22 pitch stud on thses torque converters or is the stud just messed up some how and the 24 pitch is correct???

Help please.......
Ford uses special locking nuts on the torque converters. I wouldn't recommend using anything else. Ford still uses these same nuts today, so your local dealer prolly has them. They are about $8.00 each, but FTE sponsor Direct Ford Parts has them at a discount price for FTE members.
Went to local dealer and once I mentioned 1972 he started saying "probably not" and went out back (HAD A QUICK SMOKE...THE USUAL ROUTINE) and came back saying "sorry can't help you" Ask yourself this: Since he didn't look for them, why would he say he couldn't help? BECAUSE HE DIDN'T WANT TO BOTHER!
What do I ask for?? Just torque converter nuts??
Just give them the friggen part number, that why I listed it. The minute you mention 1972 to these pinheads, they melt down. The nuts are still used today. Both of our FTE sponsors DIRECTFORDPARTS or y2kfordparts show them in stock.
