Unhappy Tranny temps too high?

Now that it's not 5* outside for a high, my transmission temp gauge is getting me worried. It's about 50 miles one way to work, 95% highway, but even cruising at 70mph my trans temps rise to ~150* and it topped at ~160* before I parked it. I drive EMPTY also, and outside temps were around 70* today while I was driving. I'm wondering if my TC is slipping? Or is that a normal thing to see? It SEEMS reasonable to me, with all the heat the motor makes, etc. but I was hoping to get some feedback to know if I'm looking at tranny work soon or not.

Oh yeah, she shifts GREAT! Nice, smooth, drops in to OD with no problems at the right times.

Thanks all!!

Typically your transmission temps should run somewhere 75*to 100* plus ambient temp. This is coming from a very good soruce Brian at BTS. Just had my tranny done there, Better if closer to the 75 bt 100 is ok too.

OK, so then with it being 70ish outside, a temp of 150 is just fine and dandy? WHEW!!!! Don't get me wrong, I sorta LUST for a BTS, but I'm trying to save for it first! Thanks all!!! You guys ROCK!!!

Hmmm when im driving down the freeway my trans temp goes from 165 down to about 140. Im on the freeway for about 15 minutes and that drop happens fairly easily.

Thats going to be because the transistion from Fluid torque multiplcation to full TC Lock. Unless you have a manual TC lock everytime you touch the brake the TC unlocks and then has to relock. And typically 40 mph down the TC isnt even in lock. Plus you have more air to oil cooling going on on the highway.
