We are looking at buying a 2006 mountaineer here in the next few weeks or months depends on when one comes in. And while searching i noticed that they said that they were e85 compatible but then i looked at the VIN and checked on e85fuel.com and it says that they only compatible 2002-2005 4.0 mountaineer. Do you guys run yours on e85 if compatible or know if they are and what do you notice about it. The ones we are looking at have the 4.0 and 5sp auto trans.

if it is a ffv it will say on the inside of the gas cap door that to only use unleaded or ethanol/e85 only. No other mention on the entire vehicle except the 8th digit in the vin should be K as it is in my 05 4.0 Explorer

e85fuel.com probably has an outdated list. Maybe at the time they published it, 2005 was the newest model year out.
I wouldn't imagine they would change things for the 2006. And yes there should be several stickers to tell you it's E85 compatible... under the hood, behind the fuel filler door, and probably on the door jamb.
