Your reference to thin casting wall, I believe comes from this statement:
3. Due to a design flaw there is not enough iron behind the valve seats to install larger valves. If you reach into the bannana cooling holes at the rear of the head with your pinky finger you can gage what I am talking about. Heads I've measured have only .080" thickness in this critical area, with stock 1.78 valves.
Doh!! I think your right. Been looking at way to many things.
The headers your referring too are made by clifford performance. You can purchase a dual outlet headers (two three into one) or you can get the single outlet (six into one header), both available with O2 and smog connection. However, if you want true long tubes or the longest dang I-6 header available for the six banger, your gonna have to modify a set designed for carb applications.
Actually, I should have said collector adapter. I've seen some premade with the O2 bung for bolting to flanged headers. With a little creative cutting and welding could be an option for EGR as well. With long tubes could be a problem but short tubes it should be easy.
I double checked, took a look at a picture of a ported efi head, air injected. Everything was done to the bowl area, ports, etc. etc. that you would expect to have done. If thats any consolation...embrace your air injected head.
One thing to be aware of for sure, the efi heads are known for cracking, so it might be a good idea to have it checked.

i'll prolly get a head w/o the air injection just so i dont have to look at the extra parts when the engine is together.......and i'll nab a remaned shortblock so i can do a simple(i hope) swap....prolly just take a week off of work and do all of this engine stuff
If you have trouble finding a non air equipped head, you can simply remove the air injection nozzles and plug the opening, nothing a trip to the hardware store wont solve. Someone on fordsix listed the sizes.
Good luck
