Hey guys, I have a sega saturn and need some info. I need links to a schematic, or the pinouts for ALL connections. I have found the A/V output, but I still need the controller ports, communication ports, expansion ports, and cartridge port. It's a RISC based system and I'm wanting to make an interface cable that will allow me to boot a hard drive with it. It;s going to take some programming, but I think it can be done.. Then I get to port linux..
Just the tought of trying to write an OS for this project would discourage me. Rip out the sega's guts, insert a mini-itx form factor Ciryx fanless 370 clone PC board (6.75 inches square), add in a laptop hard drive, mini pc power supply and have a unique SEGA system even if in name only. Sorry, cannot help on the pinouts, but thought I would give you something else to consider while you are looking.

It's a pretty common chipset. It's basically and arcade system that's been "downsized" and packaged. I need the pinouts because I'm wanting to add an external HDD with games on it. If I can get it to run right. I got the A/V sorted out today.
i looked all over could not find any thing relating not even segas websit has the pinout and calling them would be a waste of time because they propably won't give you that info i tried that rout when triing to create a one cartreg multi tap system (faled)for the sega handheld try looking up the pattens on it there might be some info there and that info has to be public
Thanks 35.. I've pretty much hit the same wall. If I could find some peripherals that used that port I could figure it out, but that's life I suppose..
