I just got a 68 302 that i am putting together. The short block is all finished it is stock. The heads are where done by a local machine shop and they are all stock too. My question is should I do any work on the ports? I have a machine shop not an automotive machine shop but I have a CNC and a manual mills. But I have no idea how to port the heads. I could easily match the gaskets or headers but would I gain anything by grinding/machining these bumps out of the exhaust ports?
Also would be really easy for me to put threaded rocker arm studs in would it be worth it? What about push rod guide plates? Looks like they would be cheap and easy for me to do but would I gain anything?
