After chatting with a salesman at a non-local dealer last week, he gave me the impression that just about any dealer would give you a X-plan pin if you were going to order a new vehicle - even a '08 SD. Not so much if you wanted one that they have on the lot.
I'd go meet the sales manager, be extra polite and see if you can catch some flies with honey.
Guy's:
Boy I thought being able to use MY X plan from where I work was special dispensation to only those involved. Now you can get a pin # off the net? There's NO dealer near where I live that will sell below an X plan price like kw5413 says.
That's to bad. But, then again, I live in what is arguably one of the most competitive and largest new truck markets in the country. I often help negotiate new truck deals for friends and family.
You can't just strut into a dealership and expect to get the "Best deal...only for today". It takes a tremendous amount of pricing research, available trucks on the lot, and timing.
With that said....the two most important factors are.....First, you have to be willing / ready/ able to make the buy. Second, you have to have the fortitude to walk away...no matter how much you want the truck.
Everything is negotiable. Just make the deal that you want to make. Don't get hung up on nomenclature. Doesn't matter much what they call the different things they want to charge for. Do the bottom line deal that is right for you. Or walk. I have been called to come get my new truck on three separate ocasions...after I left the dealership.
Last fall I had my brother walk over $ 500.00. Didn't even get out of the parking lot. Bottomline...he got 32% off list (counting rebates) on a new ('06) F-150 SC FX4. He was dead nuts even on his '04 trade @ wholesale rate.
No matter what deal you finally end up with. If it is right you and your circumstance...and you are happy with the truck...then it is a good deal.
