You can buy the Ford oem filter online from various sites for about $50+, and install it yourself. The install is a little tricky, but not too tough for most owners to do themselves. The filter is designed to last a long time, so most will probably be changed too soon (remember these engines were designed for buses and other commercial rigs). But if it gives you some peace of mind, it certainly won't hurt to change it a little early.
HERE is a web site with Ford maintenance schedules for any Ford vehicle.
Well I ran this link and it didnt show me the air filter interval. It did show me I needed to change my CABIN AIR Filter. Do we have one? Where is it? What is the part number. I think its a little ironic that we change the filter our engine breaths, but we neglect the air we breath. LOL
Chipmonks have chewed away at my hood liner as my truck sat idle for an extended period. Unknowing to me, they took that ripped away material and went into the air intake located between radiator and left headlight assembly.
That hood liner material (now shredded) was placed by those chippies just next to the intake of the air filter.
Upon my discovery of a problem (due to air filter warning light coming on) I have removed the filter and cleaned out all of the shredded material (at intake area of filter / aft [outlet] portion is clean). reassembly completed (with no pinched fingers ) BUT............the Air Filter Warning Light remains on.
Any suggestions? Is there a reset required of the sensor? Or?

Did you check the filter minder? When it is pegged at the top it will illuminate the air filter warning on the dash. You may just need to push the button to reset the minder.

Hmm.. will look for "the button" in the morning. I'm famialr with the sensor at "post filtration" but in my brief "civilian" observation did not note a button. Will look in the morning. PST here.

Yea, right on the top of the filter minder is a button. It is a push to reset deal. The light in the dash is tied into the minder, so I am assuming you had a temporary restriction caused by the chipmonks and it was enough to peg the minder and illuminate the light.

I thought "Check engine air filter restriction gauge, replace filter as required" was pretty clear. It's right there with the oil change interval.
If you are looking for something that says to change it every 32,416.8 miles, You aint going to find it in any Ford literature.

Well it's a new day and the flow restictor dash light is no longer on due to your assitance.
"The Button" is flush mounted and on the "aft" (truck referenced) portion of sensor. Upon depressing the button the clear cased sensor show the "yellow area" withdraw and an internal spring come into view.
Upon turning the key to the "plug" warm-up position the "air filter restriction" light was no longer on!
I have asked my dealership (Payton Wright - Grapevine Texas) to look at the AF condition since 25K and change it if necessary....
Question: It maybe obvious, but should I change it???? or why mess with a $300 bill if it runs fine???
Vegas - I've priced around the DFW area and have found that Payton Wright is the highest in the area for service. I bought my truck there but have never been back other than for my first free oil change. They wanted $92 for an oil change two years ago and I was getting them done for $59 to $69 elsewhere. I priced some other services at Payton and they were way out of range.
My last air filter change was $74, although I think that dealer has gone up a few dollars since then. But nowhere near $300. Find another dealer for your service work. And I would say to change your air filter now. I don't trust a small plastic piece when clean air is so important to these engines.
