Color does matter. While the white media is a good filter the blue media is better. The blue media has a higher filtration efficiency as well as a higher dust holding capacity than the white media. Plus the blue media is OEM.
Correct. And the blue media filter blocks more moisture.
powerstoke hd....mine at present time is approx half way.is the little round valce inside of plastic gizmo all the way to right when reset and bottoms out (left) when restricted....with thanks winemaker
As I recall, the OEM filter can be had for around $ 120.00 or less. That and a couple of scraped knuckles you can save some pretty good $$$ by doing it yourself.

Actually it would be just the opposite. The indicator will bottom out when reset and be at the top when restricted. You can reset it at anytime to check functionality and just to see how it works. The indicator will/should go back to near the same place as it is now after driving a bit.
At 63K I guess I will not worry about it all that much... I know that my boost feels and appears the same on the ford gauges. Like I stated earlier, the truck performs flawless since new and I have never had a power issue....
I think my guage is about 1/3 the way down on the meter and I have seen it move bothways. When I have taken it out for a hard run like another post stated it was in a different position than just the city driving.
I have been given a "Payton Wright" DEALER recommended GOLD maintenance menu (Sounds Coooooooool ) and on this PERSONAL menu it "Recommends" replacement every 15-20k miles.... The TECH at the dealership keeps telling me NOT to replace, the maitenance rep at the counter never even asks or minds..... SO I guess the dealer literature is trying to get the cash but the Tech is setting it straight for the owners....
Well I'm happy just hearing that the valve for the air filter monitor actually works! Since I hadn't seen mine move and I have over 33k miles on it, I was beginning to think that it was bunk, but maybe now I'll just keep my eye on it and when it starts moving then I'll change it.
I changed mine once at 40,000. The marker was almost to the end. I now have 78,000 and the marker hasnt moed, maybe its broke. I am changing my filter anyway.

Anythings possible, it could be broke. Not likely though, unless it is cracked or not sealing good. Maybe your driving conditions have changed, i.e. less travel in conditions with alot of airborn dirt. I have also seen a minder peg to the top after driving in a heavy snow storm. Just enough snow and ice had clogged up the air intake/filter that it pegged the minder. So it is a false reading. This is talked about in the manual.

I decided that if I am going to "check" the air filter, I will be putting a new one back in. It is a pain in the butt to mess with the filter. I picked 25,000 mile intervals to do an air filter changes. I buy all my filters though National Fleet Parts. I think the air filter there is still around $45. I figured it just isn't worth my time to "check" the filter every 5,000 miles or so after 20,000 or 30,000 miles have been put on it.
I will say however, with the comments on here I might be changing my filter a little to soon.

You really do not physically check the filter, you check the filter minder. You can not tell if the filter needs to be changed by looking at it. This is the reason for the filter minder.
