you can keep the stacks. it will depend on what county you live in on whether u will get emissions tested or not. most of the counties don't emissions test diesels, but they do look to see if you have the cat. empty your cat and cut it to fit whatever size pipe your running then slide the pipe through the cat and weld it in there so you still have a straight pipe, but yet it appears as though you have a cat. i run mine without the cat, but i have a place down here that does my inspections that doesn't care.

on edit to clarify- whatever county you live in is where you will need to get your inspection done. all counties are different on whether they do emissions so you might go to www.ntxpsa.com and sign up and ask those guys. most of those guys are around the Dallas area and will no more about those counties than i do.

Texas law still states that a turbine acts as a muffling device so no need for a muffler as far as i know. i have been asked about my cat before but never the muffler. there has been a cop down around New Braunfels that has been writing tickets for no muffler though. thats a long way from where you will be though. last time i checked the turbo acted as a muffling device....

cool. i usually check in over there a couple times a week. not as lively as this forum is, but you will find your answers there. they have meets and go to many diesel events so you might enjoy checking them out and coming to some of the Tx diesel events.

they don't stick any thing in tail pipe and test, austin and houston is the toughest on test, don't know about dallas. they will test fuel cap presure and don't know about exhaust stacks, it may make them take a look. good luck

i have noticed that stacks will get people looking at your truck for sure. mostly with mine they want to know how it runs and stuff. haha. i would stick the cat on there like u said and thats about all. they won't put a sniffer in the exhaust so your good there.

I have tinted windows on the side-rear-ext and never been question about it, as long it's not to dark that they see in side windows. just make sure brakes, lights, tag lights, emergency brakes work. go to a place thats does alot of inspections and they will run you throght quick.
