New, old tailgate

Ok, not sure if this is possible, but I have a 1995 F150 with the typical tailgate with no aluminum trim piece. I was wondering if it is possible to use a tailgate from a 80s truck that has FORD stamped in it. I like the look of the older style a lot better, but I just dont know if they will fit and latch up properly. Has anyone done anything like this before?

What color is your current gate? If its white and in good shape I might take it off your hands.

No, its Black with a sticker package on it that matches the truck, its in real good shape tho, just one tiny dent in the middle bottom that would take a few minutes to fix (my bumper is bent, and once without paying attention, when I opened the gate, it hooked the bumper.

But then again, it still isnt white.

pre 87 used a hoop style latch.
87 and newer uses a bolt style latch.
so to answer your question, no to pre 87, yes to 87 and newer.

plus the 87 older are squared off on top. the body lines wont line up.

So, after looking in LMC truck, I see that they Ford had a tailgate with F O R D on it from 87-91, So, I guess I am looking for someone that has a 87-91 tailgate with the F O R D letters across it.

Does anyone know if they are raised or sunk in? I am not sure, havent seen one close up.

If anyone has any leads, or has one, color doesnt matter, I would appreciate it.
