I would like to give my truck that popping sound when I get on it. I believe this is done with glass packs. I think Im going to take out the factory y pipe and put it an x pipe with dual glass packs. Has anyone done this? Any suggestions on anything or what glass packs to use?
Im sure lots of people have done it i think glasspacks will you give you the popping sounds and i dont think they will sound like a rice burner LOL he has a v8 it would sounds like a ricer if he had 6cyl
I got true duals with no mufflers at all, and I don't have a x-pipe. It raps pretty load when it's cold, but when the Cats. get up to normal temp. It goes away. I'm sure if you can remove just 2 cats. you'll always have that "popping" sound
Do not waste your money on glass packs. If you throttle up too much, they have a tendency to bust. If you want your V8 to pop, convert your factory exhaust system to a true duel set-up. Do not attach any type of muffler or glass-pack. Just run straight pipes all the way up to the FRONT of your REAR tires and attach "turn-downs" at the end. If the welds and bends are done properly, you'll have exactly what you're looking for. And be saving money.
The glass-packs will make your truck sound like an over-grown pissed off bumble-bee.
If you want to get creative, attach a y-pipe right at the tip of each of the last two cats to where you have four outlets. On the two inside outlets, attach turn-downs to those. On the two outside outlets, run straight-pipe all the way to the back of your truck and add some nice tips. This set up provides the best of both worlds (cruising, accelerating) when it comes to the sound of your engine. You will have that deep and thoaty sound as you cruise down the road and the more "dragster" type sound when you drop your foot.
