Wife was in an accident once.. in a like-new used Saturn I bought her... three weeks after I bought it (didn't even have it registered yet).

She was pulling out of a Taco-Bell and turning left.. woman in right lane waved her out.. she started to go and stopped about two inches into the left lane (4 lane road) when she was a Landcruiser coming right at her so she stopped. The Toyota hit her LF at the very edge of the bumper, shifting the subframe about 30 degrees... so bad the A/C pulley was pushed up against the side of the frame!

The woman that hit her was of middle eastern descent and was, of course, talking on the cell phone, but she would not say ANYTHING to the police or anyone else... not a single word.. only produced an insurance card and drivers license.

The woman that waved her out felt so bad she actually stuck around to bear witness, and offered to have the accident charged to HER insurance if need-be! WHOA! Very surprising!

Anyways.. my insurance totalled the car (Actually made about $2000 profit on the deal) and had to fight tooth-and-nail to get reimbursed from the woman who hit her, as their insurance was fighting that it was my wife's fault (which it technically was).. HOWEVER...

The middle-eastern woman who hit her would not give a statement. Her husband tried to, but even their own insurance company wouldn't accept it, as he wasn't there at the time. He would not let her speak at all to anyone about the incident... I guess because of religious reasons or whatever... so by default, it was their fault. I got a call weekly from my insurance company and we'd have a good laugh over the events that unfolded!

Also the woman who hit my wife.. she left in an ambulance.. then ten minutes later she comes walking down the sidewalk, got something out of her truck (was waiting in taco-bell parking lot to be towed), waved goodbye and went walking down the street! She would have had to have made them pull over and let her out! But yet they submitted something like $10,000 in hospital bills to their insurance company which they were never reimbursed for!

It was all so crazy we still have to laugh about it... and my wife had to throw her purse away... could never get all the nacho cheese and tortilla chips out of it!
