ok so i got my cell phone when i was 17, in my mothers name... then last year i started my own small business, TRIED to get the cell phone switched into MY name... simple right? WRONG! ive tried 4 times now and they cant seem to get it into my name when i call peoples houses- their caller id has my mothers name come up.... well for a while they figured out how to put it in my name but then it went back to my mothers?!?!?!?!?!
its bad enough that im only 20 and people judge my age when i give estimates... but to have this whole cell phone thing isnt helping- i need to keep my current # because i am in the phone book soon...
I hate cell phones, and I always have 2 with me. Just lately I called the company (we will keep them unnamed) and asked why I had yet to recieve a bill for the past 2 months as it was a company phone and I didn't want the bill late. When I was on the phone with the company they did nothing but give me grief for not paying over the phone, even after I explained that I needed a copy of the bill to submit to work.
After about an hour of trying to deal with them on the phone, I ended up telling them to send me another copy of the bill and canceled the contract on my wifes phone that was with them.
At the end of the conversation, the gal had the nerve to ask why I was cancelling my wifes contract.
My cell phone company is great. Poor reception, I get notified of my messages like 24 hours after someone left them, can't use the "system" due to overloading from other people using there phones. I love. Can't wait to sign another contract!
I've got Suncom. I've only seen the "No Service" two times in the three years I've had the service. Both times were in rural parts of N.C. By rural, I mean that Electricity and land line phones were scarce.
Doesn't that "number portability" thing come into effect in November? Maybe you could change cell providers and still keep your number.
I carry a Nextel phone / radio that is a work phone. I love the 2 way radio part. Earlier this week I was talking from Richmond, VA. to Kansas City, MO. on the radio.
...Had one once, for about a year (imagine that). Got it for long distance and emergencies...got tired of the G/F calling "just to say high", usually in traffic on way home from work...She'd get annoyed when Id ask her if it could wait till Id get home in 15 minutes and then we could gab all she liked...
Sprint, it seemed like every other week I needed to call them to get the phone reformatted...the problem was I had to do it over the cell phone and I couldnt get a signal at my house, thats why I needed to reformat...(so they told me) I guess I was expected to jump in the truck and drive around the neighborhood till I got a signal strong enough to give them the time to reformat the stupid thing...Hey I aint got much of a life, but thats getting ridiculus...
...Had 2500 minutes, free long distance blah blah blah..and only used about 50min a month...Think I spent more time on the phone talking to the sprint operator.
...When I cancelled the operator asked me why, I told her because I thought it was a rip-off when I pay for 2500 minutes and only use 50, those unused minutes should be rolled over to the following months...3 months after I cancelled I noticed that Cingular has a program that does ....go figure.
Verizon Wireless... in my area, they can't be beat for service. Your mileage may vary.
I had 2 Verizon Wireless phones at one point. They got incredible reception, but I got charged out the crack every time I was billed. It was a total screw up on their part, and they admitted it. The bad thing was that I still had to pay the $600 bill to get the phones cancelled because they, for some reason, wouldn't stop screwing up. They kept overcharging me every time and could have cared less. They were the rudest people I had ever dealt with as far as customer service went. I'll admit the reception was great, but for how much they charged me, I'd rather talk to a banana than their phone again!
From: I'm lost somewhere in NJ -- can someone please find me?!?!?!?
Around here, Verizon's got the best coverage, clearest signal, least "dead zones." But you pay for it -- their service is also one of, if not the most expesive. I've tried all the rest... weather directly or through friends. My phone is always the one pulling the best signal, making calls where friends can't, least dropped calls, etc.
As far as my experience with Verizon service goes, I have been quite pleased. I've had friends who bought new phones with lower # of minute plans, and within the first month or two they used twice the minutes their their calling plan allowed. I actually convinced Verizon to upgrade their plans and apply it retroactively, saving my friends a lot of $$$$. I've had to do some smooth talking with their customer service people, but I've always gotten what I wanted from them.
I have a verizon phone, and the service is great. Their customer support is great. I have travelled all over the country and had home coverage. Also, I was just over the border in canada, and I still got great signal. We have 2 phones with 200 minutes each. Which is fine, since I still have a landline to make the long calls. I have free nights and weekends, 1000 mobile to mobile, and free long distance. We also got a really good deal on the 4400 series LG phones. I believe that we got them for 50 dollars. All in all, I have been really pleased with Verizon.
