OK guys ..... I have a 95 PSD 7.3ltr with AA code injectors.. I want to rebuild or replace my injectors ........ and I want to know if I can use the AB or AD code injectors in my engine .... I would perfer the quieter split shot injectors if they would work. I figure if I do use them I would need to do other modifications like changing the HPOP to a higher output pump. Just wondering if this is is possible and what other changes would need to be made?
You can run any 7.3 injector, from the AA to the AD (94.5-03). You dont need to get the 00+ hpop unless yours is weak, I have 160cc stage 1s and have only the cel twice on long uphill passes.
You wont notice a quieter engine with split shots unless you have programming to take advantage of them. But you can run them with your stock programming without any issues.
What kind of programing would I need to quiet the injectors? ........ I have a 1705 Superchips programmer ...... Do you know if this will help with the AD injectors?
yes you can run the AD's they will be somewhat quieter. The superchip will also work but it won't give you the correct split shot programming. I am running AD splits on single shot programming and it works. but if you run AD's you will want the 17 degree HPOP before I changed mine I could set the CEL just entering the highway in a slightly aggressive manner. Now it only happen when I am hammer down for extended periods of time. The truck had these injectors and the chip when I bought it. If I were to do it today i would do the DIY injectors and a chip from Tony wildman or DP-tuner. I still may make the swtich one of these days but not till I get a few other things done.
If you do run the AD's and get another chip just tell tony or dp that you are running split shot AD's
