Pyrometer Gauge - Messed Up !!!!

I had the same problem with mine, I must have pulled up on the wire while working in the engine compartment and it was touching the exhaust manifold for a while and the gauge started twitching out. I replaced the pyro sensor in the manifold and ran the wiring away from the exhaust. The wiring must have been messed up inside the metal shield.

Okay - this is where it gets weird. On the way home, when under acceleraton, the gauge works just fine. But when u let off the throttle it may drop down below all the numbers again. It also wont read when at idle but under normal driving, it seems to be okay but still may act twitchy when I let off the throttle even for a second. Do u all think this is prob. the gauge that needs to go back ?
