Brake Control Plug in?

OK, I have in the past hooked up many brake controllers in Ford Superduty trucks. Usually there is a plug in under the dash for the controller pig tail to plug into. I have the pig tail that Ford supplies for attachment to the controller, but I'll be darned if I can locate the plug in wires under the dash of the truck. The Controller pig tail has a lable on it that says attach to dash cluster feed. It is not like there is a major mess of wires under the dash, it is a 2006 Reg Cab, XL, V-10, 6-speed, with not power electric extra wires running under the dash.
Can one of you fine V-10 truck owning brothers help me out....Please.

I hooked mine up last summer.
The instructions in the package (do you have the package? It also contains the extra fuses and a relay that go in the fuse block) tell exactly where it is but if you pull the lower panel and look up to the right you should see it.
Took about 30 minutes inside and out.
Can't beat factory wiring.

In the past my trucks did come with a packet of relays and fuse to be installed by the owner. Now only the pig tail, all of the extra fuse and relays are installed by Ford now, since sometime around 2003 or so.

My '05 has the integrated controller, so I'm not 100% positive about the plug location.

But, on the older models, this is what you'd want to do:

Pull the plastic access panel under the steering wheel.
Look towards the middle of the dash about the area where the temp controls are located and you'll see some metal bracing. There was a small opening in the metal that you could reach through and, attached on the back side of the metal was the plug for the brake controller.

I would consider having Ford dealer retro fit the Integrated Trailer Brake Controller

Nnless your trailers are electric over hydraulic like some heavier trailers...in that case forget it, the Ford ITBC does not work with that system

However if you have standard electric trailer brakes I can attest that the Ford ITBC is the best system I have ever used

The instructions that came with my controller were not close. It was to the right of the steering colum (sp) Mine was plugged into the little plastic cubby hole on the back side of it. I pulled the cubby hole thing out of my dash and took my Drimmel and cut a hole in the cubby hole and fed my wires through it. Now my controller sets in the cubby hole and it looks all factory and ****.

What model year do you have?
I will check it out as to the new location to look. Starting to apprear that Ford did a few different set ups as to where and how to allow access to this connector.
Appreciate the heads up.

Welcome to the forum Greg

I've done it that way a couple times too. Double sided 3M tape is good for holding the controller to the inside of the cubby hole.

I have a 05, That is the same thing I thought. They must of done it several different ways. Because the manual and the controller instructions said 2 diff. things and the dealer said another. So I basically started my own seek and destroy mission.

Yeap, that little Son of a Gun was located in a plug holder molded into the back of the cubby box. I appreciate all of the assistance, This is what makes the communications of a great Forum on the internet. It can provide answers that even the manufacture can't supply or figure out.
Thanks again everyone for the answers and efforts,

Yes if you plugged into the factory wiring and nothing happens, you need to put the relay block into the under hood fuse panel.

Yes I have read that, but Im not sure where it is. On my 7.3 there was one box under the hood. On my 03 6L there appears to be 3, to of which have been sealed with tape.

Can you be more specific?

Thanks.

In my owners manual it shows a 15 amp fuse in the #20 spot inside the cab and a 10 amp in the #28 spot and a 30 amp in the #101 spot but nothing in the under the hood box. Hope this helps.
