Well everyone, My sister's would like you to stop burning candles now.
I went to Calgary for the day yesterday to sit with Dad as they have been sitting with him for over a week now.
I was able talk a little as he finds it very difficult to talk now.
After being at death's doorstep on Monday...He had a great day on Wednesday celebrating a 20 year anniversary with his second wife.
He was able to eat DQ Ice Cream cake and even asked if he could have a beer, so someone got that for him.
All in all a very pleasurable day.
He turns 89 on the 18th if he makes it.
Yesterday..... that was a different story....he is very very weak and now hardly has the physique he once had.
We again said a final goodbye to each other and then he stated he wish he would just die.
The hallucinations have started so we know the organs are increasing the amount of failure so his time is getting very near now.
Thank you all for your support and my next post will be about his going to parts unknown.

Family, ice cream and beer. What more can the man ask for? I'm sorry to hear about the condition of your father and even though this has "dragged on" longer than you expected, I'm glad you got some extra time with him.
I can't even imagine what it will be like when I am in your shoes but I want to thank you for sharing this with us and showing us how to face death of a parent with dignity.
My heart goes out to you Dennis, and I sure am glad to hear that you were able to go and visit with him.And out of respect I wont make any comments about the exhaust fumes from mixing beer and Ice cream.(But I hope that last sentence put a smile on your face)
Dennis, consider yourself blessed for having known, in your words, such a good, upstanding man. Remember the good times and you will be well on your way to healing. Our prayers are with you in your family's time of grief.
Dennis, my condolences to you and your family, just remember all the good old times you and your father had together, I know it will be awhile for you to get over the loss of your dad but do not hold any regrets in if you have any either like i did at first when I lost my dad. just remember how wonderful man your dad was and will be to you. I will say my prayers tonight when I go to bed for you and your family ok. take care
