I am wondering what the frame width, outside to outside, of the earlier broncos is? I am looking into doing a swap of some axles to go under the wifes truck-to-be. It isnt an early style bronco, but the track width is rougly the same and I want some larger diffs to hold up to the small block that I am going to install. Also the distance from the driverside front tire to the front driveshaft would be a nice measurement to have aswell. Thanks in advance.
I already know what the track width is because I am looking at a couple of high pinion dana 60s from dynatrac, but I would like to know the frame rail width for bracketry and spring perches etc.
Frame width comes out to approx 29 1/4" +- 1/4". I have factory frame specs saved on my other computer, but it is in storage so I can only help you with what my bent and twisted measurements are.
If you are buying from Dynatrac, they should be able to set you up with brackets and mounting to match the stock EB suspension. Or, depending on what you are going to build this for, you may be better off to design a 3 or 4 link setup to fix the shortcomings of the Bronco suspension.
Dynatrac should also be able to tell you the pinion centerline to WMS measurement for a stock EB.
thank you very much. For this truck it isnt going to be a major rock crawler or anything like that so the stock suspension set up will be marked improvement on a torsion bar IFS set up. And nothing a welder and some steel cant fix. This is all preliminary planning on my part anyways. Thank you very much.
