Power Steering on a 6cyl problems???

hey, has anyone ever put power steering on thier 6cyl bronco.
I got a rock crawl power steering set up (used). I also have bought the mounting bracket to mount the steering pump onto a 6cyl engine from BC broncos.
has anyone done this set up? i have not installed anything yet. Do i need to get a doubly pully for the crank? or water pump? or both? do the v8 pullys work or do i need to find 6cyl pullys? and what belts do i need? anyone have any parts numbers for what i need or info on all this?

I just don't know how the pullys and belts are going to work on the 6cyl engine. Any and all help would be great.

What pump are you using? Ford or a Saginaw? Did you buy the engine bracket and the pump bracket from BC? I'm assuming that you bought the pump bracket from them that will work with multiple brand pumps.

I don't think that the V8 pulleys will work on a 6 cylinder, due to spacing and offset differences. Your best bet is to find a 6 cylinder Granada or early Fox Mustang (up to 82) and get the pulleys. I think that the brackets you have will mount the same as original so you may be able to use one of the cars mentiioned above to get your belts. If not, take a piece of rope that will fit in the pulleys without going completely to the V and wrap them around the pulleys simulating the belt routing. And then measure the length that it takes to go around them with the pump adjustment at the shortest length. You will also want to measure the inside dimension of the pulley at the widest part of the V to get the belt width (series). This will get you in the ballpark. You may need to make a couple of trips or buy a few belts within your measurement to get it right.

Hope that makes sense,
Jason

Thanks Jason
What you have said dose make sense. I have a ford pump. The set up i got came with a ford pump, pump bracket and a v8 engine bracket, hoses and a f150 converted steering box to work on early broncos. I assume the pump bracket will mount to the BC bronco 6cyl bracket. As for the pulleys thaks for the info. Its a trip to the junk yard this weekend for me.. hopefully i can find pullys and the size of belts i need.
thanks for your help.

OK, I have more questions. I got the pulley and belts i needed. I have everything mounted in the bronco. My new question is. The Steering pump just hangs thier with no way to tention it. What am i missing here. The top (long bolt) is there holding the pump bracket but i have nothing down low to mount to, or adjust tention with? Its just hanging thier. I tried e-mailing bc broncos 2 times and they have not replyed.
Do i have to fabricate my own lower slide mount?
Why don't they send instructions with this?
help????
