Lund Moon Visor

Hi, I just bought a Lund Moon Visor on Ebay for my 1986. Now Im having second thoughts about drilling 8 holes in my roof. Is this thing worth the trouble? Or should I just stop right now before anyone gets hurt? I like the way they look and it would be great to have something to keep the sun out of my eyes. Just looking for some words of wisdom from someone who has "been there and done that". I appreciate any and all comments. Thanks George L

I drove a truck with one. I didn't notice any sun blocking ablility, but what I did notice is after it sits in a rain storm, and you take off and make your first stop, water hits the hood like someone was on top with a bucket of water.

I put one on my 86, I did'nt want to drill holes either, but I did it anyways. I like the way they look. When I put mine on, I used some caulk around the holes to prevent water from getting int the holes. I have found it does block sunlight when it's going down. I agree with Franklin about the water collecting on it.

I have one on my 75 put silcone on the bolts when you install them then they won't leak and tak a 3/8 drill and put a hole in each troff so the water drains out I've had mine for l10 years no trouble after drilling the holes

I have one on my 88 I just bought, have one other question about them. What's it due to mileage? Bought the truck with it on so I can't compare before and after.

I took one off my 86 to replace the windshield and gained 2 mpg on a trip. When it was on I noticed the "back pressure" seemed to lift the wipers a bit and if you used the washer the fluid would blow forward. So now the visor sits in the attic of the garage. I did like the looks and if I wasn't doing so much driving back and forth VA to NY it would still be on.

The gas mileage penalty is something I never thought about. Im glad I asked you guys before putting it on. I have a trip out to the West Coast planned so I think Ill ruminate on this issue for a little longer. Thanks again for all your help. George L
