ice build-up

ive got an '06 XL reg. cab, reg. box, F150 and have had a problem... it seems us poor suckers who live in cold climates r getting a nice big ice build-up in the doors... mine got to the point ice formed between the frame and passenger side door, freezing the door solid and pushing the bottom of the door out roughly 1/4".... i called my local dealer and they have had more than 5 trucks come in with the same problem (service girl herself has the problem on her truck)

after fixing the problem (hot water at the car wash for a good 5 min and a whole can of WD-40) i got it thawed up and so far so good (had a good couple of cold days since then) i took it to the dealer... Ford isnt covering the door repair under warranty... seeing as this is sumwhat of a common problem with the trucks my dealer is going to fight it to help us out.....

this is just sumwhat of a warning to anyone out there... if u notice a build-up get it sorted out ASAP so ur not screwed over like me.... worse case scenario... ill take it to my uncle and get him to help me fix the door....

also... anyone else have this happen and score a deal from ford for them to fix it?

I'm thinking a set of mud flaps, to redirect the snow/slush/crap awar from this area on the truck is probably a good idea. Or at least that's what I've been considering on mine. As I've noticed some crunching noises from door to ice issues.

I have the same problem. My problem seems to come from snow melting on the hood or windshield and running down around the door hinges. I know this because I can follow the trail of ice. I try to get snow off the hood and windshield before it has a chance to melt. The running boards seem to add to the problem as the ice builds up on them first and it backs up from there.

Angry Ice Buildup

Here in Michigan I park in the weather. I have noticed a buildup of clear ice 12" to 18" between the inner front of the door and the post a few times. This can happen sitting in the drive or driving in bad weather. There is no air or moisture leakage into the cab at any time. IMO this is coming from the top down some way. Not a big problem for me as it has not happened that often to be an issue. I do remove it as soon as I find it. Buildup dosn't seem as much as yours. Hope you figure it out. By the way I have large molded mud flaps front and back.

WOW, I thought I was the only one that had this problem. When I went to open the pass door, I heard this bang, andI though the bottom skin of the door was going to break off. This really sucks but , hey, what can we do?. I'm just gonna park my truck nose down so hopefully it will roll off the hood the other way.

Yes, please keep us posted......It's already March, so HOPEFULLY, most of the storms are gone. Boy did we get hammered on Friday though. Most of my town was under water. I managed to stay dry thank god.

ice build up

In the past I have noticed some ice build up inside the door, under the lower hinge. I noticed it, but never really thought it would do much damage.
Fast forward to this past weekend. I was washing my truck by hand and noticed a few inches of the door where the paint was chipped. DAMN IT!

I havent had that problem with the doors. but i dont have power locks so when i go to unlock the door with the key it seems like the lock cylinder is always frozen or the handle is frozen solid.
