Heres a good one for all of you. I have an 86 2.9L under the hood of my B2 and I'm having issues with ice buildup around the butterfly on the intake. Take note that it's really cold here. We have been in the -40 to -50 range for a week now. This is really driving me nuts, because the throttle will stick open and i will need to shut down the truck and get out to manually flip the throttle up and down under the hood to finally get it to close again. Any ideas of what I can use to keep ice from forming at the butterfly. The thing that gets me is there is no heat return coming off the exhaust manifold like alot of cars do, that would help to prevent this from happening. Any thoughts would be appreciated.
You are right about the heat riser setup and the fact that it's purpose is to stop icing of carbs and butterfly valves. I would investigate what parts are required to restore the system and do so promptly. Stuck throttles are a safety hazard.
You could always gin something up yourself I wish I had mine to give to you, I threw it away when I rebuilt my motor (got headers). Since I don't drive it in the winter and there wasn't a location for it anymore, I figured to hell with it.
Sorry about the late post, but there doesnt seem to be a heat riser on the passenger side, if there was one, where would it hook to? Would it hook to the airbox or to the irubber intake hose coming from box to the manifold?
