I ran Yokohama Super Digger V's on a truck a few years ago. 2 minor complaints; the more worn they got the louder they got on pavement and they seemed very suseptable to puntcures BUT they looked awesome on the truck and gave me so much traction it was easy for my 2X4 to stay with 4X4's. Per the puntcures I did work at a city dump at the time and my tire dealer always fixed the leak for free.
On my 73 Ford F250 Camper Special 4x2, I have BF Goodrich TA KO tires, which are just awesome. They last around 80,000 to 100,000 miles, and are I think 7 ply or 9 ply tires? Anyway they're real durable. I would recommend these for anyone. However, they're a bit pricy...between 160-180 a tire.
Sammy--I ran Yoko Avid V4s on my minivan. Great wet weather tire, but noisy and we didn't rotate them as much as we should (it's a directional tread and one of the tires had 2 plugs in it so I wanted to leave it on the rear). So at less than 40k miles 3 of them had worn out in the center. I replaced them with Bridgestone Turanzas which unfortunately were much more expensive.
Are their truck tires any good? I had decided to purchase some 35" BFG all terrains when I get the truck ready but I might be persuaded otherwise.
Hey, I haven't heard anybody at work complain about the Geolander AT+2 tires. They are fairly agressive and from what I hear people seem to get good mileage out of them. I don't know if you can get them in any size bigger than 33x12.50, I know that was the biggest size we built at our plant but they might build bigger ones somewhere else. Also if you wanted a really agressive tread pattern you might want to check out the Geolander M/T, won't get a lot of mileage out of them but they will really sling the mud!
I won't be slinging a LOT of mud until my son gets old enough to help dig it out! He's only 6 now so we'll hold it to light offroading and hunting/fishing/home depot trips. Think I'll probably stick with the BFG plan. Thanks for the info, though
