I just purchased the Heart throbe dual exhaust kit for my 95 bronco with the 5.8. I gotta tell you, the exhaust system has no mufflers, it was only $300 but I figured a dual exhaust with no mufflers would be pretty loud, but man does it sound like crap. Any body heard good/bad about this kind of exhaust?
Do you stll have cats on it? It has been my findings that even with nothing after the cats they are still quiet. I plan on knocking all the junk out of the cat and then putting the exhaust on.
What diameter is the new tubing? You have to give the exaust a little space to bounce around in to get what your probably wanting, BUT- go to big and you get the crappiest sounding system you'll ever hear(break 2800 rpms and you get a backfire and the spittin and sputterin and man you just sound lame when you leave a redlight)
About the cats- don't gut 'em if you have to get emmissions in your area.
The new heart throb is the stock 2.25" piping. Im thinkin about doin something with the cats but i was wondering with the bassani y with cats- would that still be emissions legal? ive heard some rumors that not all hi flow cats are emissions safe.
Don't know about the emmissions change after an exaust swap. If your considering true duals be sure to include an X-pipe. You always want to cross the exaust in at least one place to help even out the system, regadless of what anyone tells you. The H-pipe fits a little better on the trucks but the X-pipe flows better. If you can afford it get a stainless system it'll last longer.
