lots of work with no gain.
if youre keeping factory tuning, even the highest flowing "true duals" will do nothing for you. long tubes into a y-pipe will net you the greatest seat of the pants gain vs any other setup, short of a "racecar-esque" top end setup, where true duals will net the greatest gains in high rpm (horrible for a street driven truck)
get long tubes, fab a free flowing 3" y-pipe, and just run the single.
Your biggest gain in HP and MPG for the money is replacing the factory y-pipe/converters with a high-flow version. Whether you want to go the extra steps for long tube headers and a custom exhaust is up to you.
It wouldn't hurt at all to replace the timing chain, get a double roll timing chain. There about 30-40 bucks, but the timing chain cover has to come off the front of the motor.
