just did my ccv mod this past weekend and went about 400miles on it and its already dripping oil out of it, is this normal? (just route the 3/4 hose over the master brake cylinder and out the back along the frame and just notice the oil out the tube.
Mine never dripped. But there's an oily mist around the end of the tube. I have it routed near the driver's side wheel well, and everything in about a 5"x5" area is coated in oily residue.

I ran my hose back along the frame rail and stopped it just before the rear spring. Used a heavy plastic jug with a large diameter lid and cut a hole in the lid just big enough for the 3/4 hose.. Then put several extra holes in the lid around the hose to let the vapor out... It has been about 4 months now and still only about 2 cups of oil.. I will empty it soon.. Works great..
I have no drip. Mine exits right in front of the rear axle. It sure stinks though. I did not route mine above the master cylinder or anything else higher than the origin except right at the dog house. I don't think you have a major issue unless the oil level is dropping in the pan. That should not be happening. If that is happening and you are seeing a marked increase in oil consumption, that excessive oil could be from blow-by. Is your oil always black or gets that way rapidly after an oil change?

you know as a matter of fact the oil I was looking at was pretty dark and oil change was done 1month ago

Sounds like you don't change your own oil. If not, start doing so. Not to be an alarmist but the CCV drain tube should not puddle. At least not regularly. Rapidly blackening oil, while not uncommon is also not a good sign.
How is the truck running? Any kind of smoke besides the heavy acceleration variety under heavy boost and with a tune? Is there any consumption of oil to report?
Don't mean to butt in on someone elses thread but I am also waiting for warmer weather to do the ccv mod. Where is the best place to run the hose out to where I won't get oil all over the underside of the truck? Plus when I tow my TT will the TT get spoted with oil? Is there a way to make a catch can or something.

Away from where you might smell it. I have mine tied to the fuel tank strap dumping in front of the driver side rear axle. I have no drips or residue whatsoever below the truck, on the axle or wherever else I look. That is my concern with the other post. It does stink though if you catch a whiff.
mine goes over the MC and all the way back to behind the rear axle. never had a leak until about 2 months ago and its been at least 2 years. so trust me they will blow oil out at some time. and i guess i must of had oil biulding up that whole time. i have since made a cut and put in a connector at the lowest point so i can drain it every few months or so. even after i saw the spot in the garage floor (about 5" in diameter) i got about 1/8 a cup or so of oil out of the line when i cut and drained it.

truck runs great actually no smoke at all even with stage 3 program and me flooring it there is no smoke. Starts right up everytime, I am how ever one of those guys with crappy mpg even though its rwd I get crap #'s, I have been trying to do every possible mod and maintaince item to restore her to as close to new as possible so I dont know whats up?
did the CCV mod last week, replaced plastic narrow tube in intake with some more 4 inch exhaust tubing. have noticed oil smell pretty strong as tube exits around the front wheel well. will reroute the hose all the way to the exhasut pipe and plumb it in at a later date. should exit unnoticed there and wont spot up the frame. haven't had any oil drip ...yet.
Im a little confused. If the CCV drips oil into the intake hose and turbo, pooling in the IC boots finally. Why then wouldnt you expect to see a bit of a drip from the CCV mod hose at some point in time.
One other note for those in colder climates to keep in mind is the potential for frozen up CCV mod hose. A couple of guys in here have experienced it. Even though I don't live in a cold climate, I'm planning on routing my own hose (or hard tubing) down close to the exhaust pipes to maintain some extra warmth. Besides, when I choose to insert the CCV discharge back into the exhaust piping (again, like others have done), it will be very close by and easy to pick up. I'm also going to build a small liquid trap that will be easy to drain occasionally.
I thought someone made a catch can with the hose runing into the can then vented the the oily vapers. I read about it just cann't remeber where or when I saw it. Anyone have pictures of there set up?
