I'm going to go look at a set of used Dually rims today...The seller doesn't know much about the rims except that they are off an older ford and are not split rims...I'm wondering how to measure the rims to make sure they are the 16's rather than the 16.5's... I have a good tape measure, but how/where do I measure and is this a accurate method. Any help or other ideas appreciated.
I think you'll find that there 16" wheels, only becuase I think that 16.5" is more of an
after market size you can buy. A anyhow measure from lip tp lip should getcha what
your looking for.
As you inspect them for rust and cracks, you should be able to find the size stamped right on them, on the rim part of the wheel, if they are no older than 20 years or so. (size stamped on my '85 stockers, for example)
If you must measure, measure from where the tire seats on the rim, not the edge of the lip.
Thanks for the replys. I'll look for the # stamped into the rims. Otherwise I'll measure...Now if he would only the seller would email me back with an address.
The extra .5 an inch will be more then obvious using a tape measure, it will not even be close to 16 inches. Plus, every 16.50 rim I have seen, both Ford and OEM, has the size stamped or embossed into the back side of the rim and/or the front side between the studs or along the outer edge.
Hi. 16" wheels have a 90 degree lip and a 16.5 wheel has a tapered lip to it (like 37 degrees or so). Most do have stamps near the valve stem hole, but the bead area will always tell. Are these wheels coined or hub centric?? Will they even match up with the wheels you already have?? Best of luck, Steve.

Thanks for this bit of info...I went by a tire shop and they actually were able to show me what the tapered lip looks like opposed to the 90 degree...I bought the rims just a while ago and they seem perfect...One even had a good tire on it. Probably will make that one my spare. Thanks again for all the replys.
