Ignition

Does anybody here use MSD 6 type ignitions on there rigs? I was thinking about buying an offroad MSD 6 for my 5.0 but they are about $250, do you think this is a good investement?

Not really worth it to be honest. I have a plain 6A that I got used for 40 bucks and don't notice much of difference between when it is connected and when it's not. Maybe a slightly smoother idle but not really any increase in power.

ok, thanks. I have an HO moter that im swapping in a truck, so the truck distributor wont work with the rollar cam correct? i have the distributor that was in the HO, should i just buy a new cap and rotar and then throw that one in there or...?

As long as both distributors have the same TFI module configuration (i.e. both remote mount, or both distributor mounted), yeah, just run the HO distributor with new cap and rotor.

should i use the stock coil? whats a good coil to use? i have a used blaster 2 coil, if they are good

Either one is probably ok. Try both, see which one you like better or if there is really any difference at all.

well, if i use the blaster 2 coil i need to cut the plug off for the tfi coil, or i can get a blaster coil from msd that mounts the same as the factory one and has the same plug. what do you suggest?

The factory TFI coil isn't a bad unit.

I wouldn't modify the wiring. Just go with the stock coil.
