There are two different style plugs that I know of: one is a rectangular style, and the other is more of an oval style. They should both be 4 wire plugs. Be careful as the wires are backwards from the two (if I remember right).
Correct, the original '94 plug is oval, the '95 is rectangular. The order of the contacts is the same.
I drove it 30 miles so far today. The check engine light came on at about 6 miles. I stopped to pick something up, and it went out. It stayed out the rest of the way. Seems to be a bit more responsive. Waiting to see if pinging or mileage is affected.
Okay, so I have put about 250 miles on the new MAS. I have seen no ill effects. The fuel mileage is about the same maybe a little higher, but I got on it more than usual this past tank. No check engine light since the first six miles. I have noticed an improvement under heavy acceleration. Especially noted is when at cruising speed, say 50 -65 mph, and encountering a hill, the truck is less apt to downshift. I guess there is more air flow, enough to keep the power high enough to not warrant downshifting out of overdrive.
I put 87 octane in this morning, no pinging yet but will see after a hundred miles or so.
Experimenting is fun!
