That may be hard to test without a Ford shop manual. The boys that worked at the Ford dealer near me always laughed at us and said that the best way to test a sensor was to install a known good one. They always had extra ones on hand..very lucky!
All kidding aside.....Not a lot you can do without some equipment and or check for codes to see if it shows up. Make sure it has vacuum.
Just to let you know, unless you've done a mass-air swap, you dont have a mass air sensor. Ford used speed density up until 1996, when the switched to MAF.
are you sure your not mistaking map for maf? i didnt think these had maf either. there is no vacuum at a maf sensor but there is vacuum at a map sensor.
nope it is mas air , air flow sensor is right after the air filter box it has a wire connection going to it , following air flow sensor is a y junction with 2 hoses going into the throttle boby
Ford used MAF on some 94 and 95 302s, don't remember or much care which. 300s didnt get MAF till 96, not sure when the standard 351s made the transition, the 96s were MAF for sure though.
I have a '95 300 I6 and was concerned about over oiling my K&N filter causing the MAF to go haywire, but if I have speed density do I need to be concerned?
Thanks Sprocket. I called K&N and they told me what was in the other post, that if I have two tubes coming out of my air box it is speed density. But they didn't know if excess oil would be a problem for that. Anyway I am letting my K&N sit on some rags for a few days while the oil drips out of the rubber ends where the pleats seal in. No oil dripped from the gauze area (though I sprayed it about 10 times on each side).
