squeaking under hood
hey guys
i have a 91 5.8 that just started sqeaking under the hood. ithought it was the belts but it is coming from the back of the engine. when i shut off the engine it still squeaks for a few senconds maybe two second or less. any ideas would be a great help. thanks

Vacuum leak- almost for sure. Also, check the inlet for the PCV system. If you replace the oil fill cap with a closed type, it will make a whining noise- chased that one for a few days.

its funny you talk about an oil cap or pvc inlet it started happening after i changed the oil along with a slight oil leak coming from passenger side of engine
. i will check and change the pvc valve and make sure the oil fill cap is vented thanks for your reply

Wow- I never heard one squeak and keep working. I had one on my 'Yota squeak when it blew apart, and one on an F-600 at work just ripped the water pump off, but never a little squeak. I'd replace that before I needed a radiator. Be a good idea to do a pump at the same time.

i should replace it. any idea how to tell if it is a thermal or nont
thermal clutch? and can they be interchanged? they are rather expensive if they are thermal.
