To the best of my knowledge, yes there should be. Removing the rubber plug in the bottom of the bell housing should allow you access to the plug in the converter. My '92 has a square head plug. You may ned to tap the key or rotate the converter by hand til it lines up with the hole in the bell housing.
I,m considering draining my converter also its a 95 bronco with e40d and was wonder if the converter is drained how much extra fluid do you have to add to the tranny and will it fill up if it is added thru the tranny, new to fords so im not sure and my haynes doesnt say how its added back to the converter most ive seen is the converter has to be pulled thanks for any help?
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 28-Oct-02 AT 12:19 PM (EST)]If you drain the pan and the torque converter, you will need between 16 and 17 quarts of fluid. Both of mine took right at 16 quarts.
Aaron d thanks again for the info you have given me lots of good tips since ive started on this site grasious! sounds like to me you have just about rebuilt your ride. I dont know what i would have done with out this site and people like yourself to help others, keep up the good job.
hope you respond by this weekend 2,3 nov still didnt answere if it could be added straight to the trans or did you have to pull the converter? sorry for being ignorant, never tried this. always owned a chevy before and had to pull the converter. thanks for any info.
The trans pump refills the TC on its own. Just add ATF to the dipstick tube. When about 1/3 to 1/2 of the total amount is added, start it and run it in PARK only, for about half a minute. Then shut it down and add the rest.
