90Bronco, see my earlier post. I kid you not, that thumb sized coil inside the distributor, activates the TFI module. When it fails your truck stops, do not pass go do not collect $200.
It isn't as easy to change as the TFI, but I have had one fail, and so have others. More infrequently then the TFI, but the same effect.
I replaced the TFI, and coil, before learning of it and replacing. Worked for me, good luck.
Always: Check for spark, check for fuel, check for air before replacing the engine

It is the stator, a coil with some wires attached used to activate the TFI. It lives inside the distributor under the rotor. You have to remove the distributor to replace it. Auto zone calls it a pick up coil part # 184572 F122 on my receipt. $29.99
i would try the pickup coil. From the sounds of it, just dying all of a sudden like that, and if you have allready replaced the cap, rotor, tfi, etc, then it sounds like the most likely canidate. I would actually pull the cap off of the dizzy and have someone crank the engine, or just jump the termials on the starter solenoid and watch it go around. If it doesnt move when the engine is cranking, then you have problems.
Shot in the dark here, but i had somethign similar happen to me and after alot of replacment parts and time, it was a loose connection in some of the wiring harness, found on the passenger side of the engine. ( think it was that side, near the valve covers) wouldnt take but 5 mins to unplug them and plug them back in making sure they are secure.
