The chains are a pro setup. The are used on autoaxle to track conversion setups like snowcats and trail groomers. They limit articulation and are usually only on wide track tire drives. I'm not sure exactly what purpose they serve on a truck.

what is it with ppl and shocks? good grief! ONE per corner does perfectly fine unless you getting serious air time!
also, whats the point in lift and taller tires (crappy mickeys by the way!) when you build ladder bars like that?
i guess he used chains instead of straps just for the 'cool' factor but straps would prolly be better!
truck has potential but it needs some work, and it darn sure aint worth $16K!
