'78 cab removal

Got a question, i have a '78 ranger. How much work is it to tear the cab off? can one guy do it? I'm thinking of restoring the body and rust bulleting the frame. I have to get it off the frame first.

I'm sure you guys have some tips and tricks. If there is anywhere on the site where it's already been posted let me know where and i'll have a look thanks.

Its pretty easy to do. You just need a bunch of buddies to help with the lifting part unless you have a good loader to pick it up.

Not bad. takes some time. One guy can get it ready to come off, but you need at least 4 people to lift it off.

I recently put mine back on(painted) with 4 guys, about 35 cinder blocks and a pair of 2X10's. Once we got the cab in the air, we rolled the chassis under it and brought it back down.

I do it all singlehanded with no trouble.
I disassemble and remove the front clip, disconnect the steering column, boltcutter the parking brake cable (if rusty), and unbolt or slice off the cab bolts with a grinder.
I remove the door on the passenger side, set two tires without rims (an old mattress or similar would work too) and lift (wear gloves!) the opposite side of the cab up and slide/tip it over onto the padding. A Hi-Lift jack or a couple of 4x4s works for propping it up in mid-lift if desired.
Once it's off the frame, I work it away from the chassis and tip it back over so the rocker panel areas are supported by tires.
If this seems like too much work, you can also disconnect the cab, jack it up corner by corner, slide 4x4s (i've used two) across the frame rails under the cab, then run rope or strap through the cab and winch it off sideways with a come-along.
This:

would also work a treat for handling cabs.
