Hey y'all, I was just wondering how you can tell if a truck is a highboy or not. The guy I bought my truck off says it is a highboy , and the frame is a 77 frame. I'm not too sure. I have a 79 cab and a 78 box on it. But one thing I did notice is there are spacers between the axles and the leaf springs, they're not lift blocks because the lift blocks are underneath them. I dunno what to make of this, any ideas?
One quick way to check is to look at the front leaf springs from the side. If they look like a smile, , it is a "highboy". If they look like a frown, , it is a "lowboy".
Hope this helps.
Gord, Sparky is right, but high boy is a term not a truck model. Most of the early Ford 4X4 trucks were high off the ground with tall skinny tires, and the term "highboy" was started and stuck. :-)

In the cool still quite of night you can hear chevies rusting away.
all 1/2 ton ford 4x4 trucks between the years of 1965 and 1979 had a coil sprun live axle front suspension (in 80 they made the ttb crap), the front coil spring suspension is very durable and can flex like a wrangler, my brother has a 71 with coils and he has had the pass tire on a 3ft stump and the driver on the ground and the cab was level
