Quality depends greatly on where the parts come from, since almost all aftermarket body parts come from overseas. You should find a company that sells Certified Automotive Parts Association (CAPA). These parts are certified to meet or exceed OE specs by CAPA, the only industry recognized organization to certify aftermarket parts. Also find out if they are ISO9002 certified. If there not then you should look elsewhere.

I have had great luck buying parts from www.autobodypartsonline.com
they are one of the LARGEST online autobody parts store. There prices are awesome too. Having rebuilt 2 broncos and using body parts from them I have had excellent results. My newest bronco has fenders, doors, turnsignal lenses, parking lenses, and stone deflector from them. They fit perfect, and its in the bodyshop having Mercedes / black sprayed as I type. All the panels aligned perfect, I have no complaints.

There service is very good also, and the way they ship your parts is the best I have ever encountered, everything is doubled boxed, sprayfoamed and tight, I have never had any damage to any panels or small parts.

However, I have not ever replaced a tailgate with an aftermarket, I have heard several people have with various aftermarkets and they did NOT like the fit of the aftermarket (best bet, do not buy JCwhitney *rap).

ck out the prices there! ouch! my replacement tire cover was ~$140.00 back in 98.

 

I suggest you find a Ford tailgate, whether it be used or new the aftermarket tailgates do not look or let the window roll up the same. Belive me, I made the mistake of buying an a new aftermarket and the window just doesn't roll up the same. Usually I have to help it up. Find a used one.
