From everything I have read the switch hasn't been available new for several years. Junk yard is your best bet, or online somewhere. IIRC all full-size Broncos use the same switch so year doesn't matter.
Thanks for the input. I was hoping for a part number so as to facilitate a NOS search for any old stock if still available. If in fact there is no old stock We can proceed of course with the usual options...salvaging from a few sources..
I have searched for options for a switch on many sites and I'm surprised that a solution for replacing the paddle switch with a new or aftermarket one doesn't exist,..yet anyway.
Maybe this has to do with most guys eliminating the tailgate altogether for off-roading?..or maybe a soft-top option?..not sure..maybe these vehicles are just too new.
Anyway..the search continues...I just don't relish the thought of searching for another 25-30 year old switch that may need work as well...after taking it out of another mud-abused 4x4 relic...
There is no key switch in the tailgate. The mechanism is a regular lock cylinder with a paddle attached to the tumbler. When you rotate the key, the paddle depresses one of two button switches mounted in the assembly. One sends voltage one direction to run the window down. When the key is turned the other way, the other button is depressed and the polarity is reversed to run the window up.

I guess I should've asked for the part number for the "KEY activated PADDLE SWITCH" in the tailgate...maybe it exists..my bad
I see he hasn't been here since 12/4...maybe he is traveling or something. Just so I am clear, are you looking for the key cylinder or the internal parts to engage the up & down for the window using the key from the tailgate?

I'm looking for the actual up/down switch itself that is activated by the paddle. It has molded in wires coming from it and is part of the harness assembly. I haven't taken mine out yet. It will go up but not down. I can go up and down from the dash switch. It would seem to be a good investment in one of these micro-switch assembly's if a person were to want to use that window for a few more years and having all parts on hand to do a rebuild of the tailgate seems a good idea if it is somewhat reasonable..(which is subjective I know).
I would think this would be a sticky (replacement parts for this rear access..maybe I'm the only one who has ever wanted to find one?..I can't think so)...
