Their is some discussion on one of the Fire Department Forums that the E series cutaway for ambulances maybe going away. Does anyone have any information on this? Would this be the PSD only and still be available in a gasser or? Lots of med units running around on that E-450 would be quite a change for a lot of services.
The new diesel will not fit in the van as it is. The engine is too wide. They have to redesign. Since it is coming out in the F series, I would guess they want to get away from the 6.0. So until the new van is out, I am only guessing there will be a lapse. This is only a guess on my part, not gospel. Maybe the gas will still be available????? Another Ford problem. This would allow GM to get a bigger foothold.
The other thing you could do is go to something like the International, but it is a medium duty, and you might get a rougher ride out of it. I see a lot of them being traded in, maybe for that reason.
