6.0 in a E-450

6.0 in a E-450
Wondering if anyone can confirm the Horse Power ,ect on the 6.0 in a E-450. We have two chassis on order for ambulances and rumors are the engine is derated in the E series.

235Hp/440Tq, it is the IDI VT365, which has been in use two years before the 6.0PSD in the F-series. The 6.0PSD is a high performance version of the VT365. The VT365 has proven to be a reliable motor without the growing paines of the 6.0PSD. The main reason for the de-tuned motors in the E-series is do to limited space and air flow in the van body style nose. Therefore, not enough room for the requiered intercooler and larger turbo and not enough air flow, that the 6.0PSD requires.

blackhat - Thanks for the information - is the E-450 a new application for the VT 365? We have been told that there are no 04's available as yet but they are in production - reason given is the engine change.

I'm not sure when the change over took place in the E-series models 250-550. Before they used the de-tuned 7.3PSD (ie. VT 444).
Post this question up in the "New Truck Buyer" section of this forum and see what answers come back.
