A 360 that is rebuilt to perfection with everything new will have around 100 psi. I say that like I know what I'm talkin about but when i rebuilt my 360 and everything was brand new, they all came out to 105 psi. Then i got a 390 crank and rods and am happily turning over at around 190 psi!!
??? A month ago I checked the compression on my 73,000 miles (at least) 360 and got 140 psi on each cylinder. Was so unusual to get the same on 8 cylinders that I did it again and got the exact same thing.
73F100; that depends on the tester used plus if hand held or screw in with long hose making the combustion chamber larger than really is.
I use a old Snap-On hand held perfect for Porsche's VW's years ago.
Years ago on the 414 build I was offered a brand new Performer cam to go with Performer intake, bad idea as compression ended up 230 PSI.
Detonation at 1/4 throttle with light acceleration. Performer out and a CJ cam in which is still running 19 years later. Low .050" degree numbers 194/204 vs advertised 270/290 with good mpg, around town or easy highway driving on regular or mid grade loaded or in the summer.
Check www.Edyno.com you'll be surprised what dynamic numbers you should run.
