Power Steering pump

ok to replace the power steering pump on a 302 in a 89 f150 do you have to take off the A/C compresser and that bracket or not?

I pulled the pump from the bracket while the bracket was still in the truck. It makes it a little harder to get the pulley puller in there, but it was probably easier than pulling the whole bracket. I guess it depends on how flexible you are as to whether or not you can get in between the fan shroud with your hands to get enough leverage on the wrenches when using the pulley puller. I borrowed a pulley puller/installer from AutoZone a couple weeks ago to swap power steering pumps on my 87 302. If you can get by without pulling the complete bracket off the engine, do it that way; if you don't have room to work, consider pulling off the bracket or the fan and shroud.
