Power steering pump leaking.

Power steering pump leaking.
I have figgure out that my power steering pump is leaking. Can anyone tell me should replace the pump or do I need to get one of thoes kits with the seals for it. and is this something I can do myself and how hard is it? Oh yea it's an 89 F250 4x4. Thanks.

I put new o-rings and seals in the leaking pump on my '87. I'm not sure if there is a way to measure the internals for wear or not, but it seemed very similar to the other pump I have out of a '94. The re-seal kit was about $7 when I bought it from NAPA maybe a year ago and was pretty straight forward to install if you have a little mechanical ability. I think the trickiest parts of the job are removing the snap ring and reassembling the pump. Be sure to get or borrow a power steering pump pulley puller/installer tool.

I had a leak on a 91 F150 and fixed by removing the fill cap, cleaning around it, and putting it back on. I think the last person did not get it back on right. Take it on and off a few times to get the feel of it.
