Ok so I have a 89 f-250 I just swapped in a D60. And I was going to put 38's on it. I was wondering if their is any better pumps better than stock or any advice on this please? Thanks
Thanks for the info. I dont know nothing bout the saginaw pump does it bolt right in or is their some modifications to be done. And what all does the hydro assist and hi-steer consist of Thanks a ton Since I have started this project this site and you guys are awesome I havent posted a whole lot but spent tons of time reading thanks again
I Am Running 38.5's On My 83. I Have A 95 Super Duty Hydro Assist Setup And Running The Pump Off Of That Truck As Well. I Have No Problems What So Ever, Even At A Dead Stop.
The Pumps Are The Same As Far As Mounting And Size, Use The Pully Off Of Your Current Pump To Keep The Belt Size The Same. The Superduty Pump Has An Additional Nipple On It To Accept The Return Line From The Hydro-boost.
As For The Hydro-boost, I Got Mine (master Cylinder Included) From A Donor Truck In A Salvage Yard. The High Pressure Line Was Cut When I Got It So I Had One Made, But If You Find One With The Engine Still In You Need That Line As Well.
Ok Thanks for the info. What would I have to do to make it hydro assist? and did the superduty pump bolt on or is their a little work to be done?
you need a capable hydro ram (2"x8"), 2 pressure lines, drilled and tapped gearbox (perfect time to replace all the seals!), and a good (big) power steering cooler!
if you get a sag pump from a j-yard (about $10) you can bolt it up in place of your stock one without new brackets and you dont have to mess with the pulley, the V-groove one is already there!
hi-steer is when you buy a hi-steer arm that bolts to the top of your pass side knuckle. it allows you to run a MUCH better steering angle than if you just use a drop pitman arm. but this isnt needed unless you have a lot of lift to compensate for!
Thanks alot guys all this info is greatly appreciated. That is what I was thinking the hi steer was but I thought maybe it had to do with the different pump. Thanks again guys.
