Update on the injector flash

ok guys listen up, and moderators if you want to combine my threads, feel free to do so. the new flash for sticking injectors does not go over well with me and i will have to see this to belive it. to be honest, i feel like the only reason they tried another angle was due to alot of complaints of the buzzing sound. heres what they do. during key on while glow plugs are warming, the injectors will buzz. when you crank your truck the ficm will fire the injectors in a way to create a high temp warming effect that will in turn warm the oil going in and out of the injectors. ford calls it inductive heating by using the magnetic field that is being created in the injector solenoid. i know this is hard to believe and honestly i dont buy it. i dont see how this wil fix a sticking injector due to the natural varnishing effect of oil that creates the problem. guys stay tuned to see how this comes about. right now, i am not recommending this to anyone untill i have one where i can see it. they do say that this works down to 5 degrees and that within 10 secs the truck will have cleared up with even bad injectors. i really dont feel good about this one but maybe it will grow on me.

Will the "injector buzz" flash still be available? If not, I'll just keep on using my manual "buzz" by cycling the ignition switch a few times when I shut down for the night, for whatever benefit it may be.

Very interesting. Sounds like they are using the spool valve solenoids for heaters to free up the solenoid valves before they go to work. I wonder how long they're gonna stay warm when that cold oil hits them? Just food for thought

i just picked my truck up from the dealer. i took it in for cold start issues and they found two bad injectors. i don't hear the buzzing of the injectors on shutdown and i dont see it listed on the invoice for any type of flash. so maybe they are told not to implement it anymore, due to the new updated flash. now i will probably have to pay another 100 to get a flash.

while at the dealer i was talking with my service advisor and a diesel tech and they were unaware of the newer flash and none of us could figure out what "heat induction strategy" was implying. but now it makes sense.

so bowtie you have no faith in this latest so far? i thought there was something wrong with the last flash besides the sound

maybe they can just make injector extenders so we can just change them like light bulbs

i like to fix problems, not patch them. the buzzing shook the excess oil off leaving a clean, gum free spool valve. the induction just heats up the oil to help thin it out quicker and free up the spool valve. i am not saying it wont work, but we will have to see.

Now that's an idea. Would make switching from stock to 190's back to stock sooooo much easier than the you have to go through now

yeah... i'm afraid the fix for the 6.0 is the 6.4

does explain why they went back to high pressure fuel rails doesn't it

if the other flash does pan out to be better . which it is really premature right now, but can you some way get the old? i think i already know the answer to that one

Thanks for the info BTH.

I had the 05E16 flash done on my truck in September. There is no buzzing sound after shutdown. There is a fairly loud buzz from the passenger side of the engine compartment, near the top of the fender area above the tire, when I turn the key on and wait for the glow plug light to go out. The buzz lasts about 10 seconds. What would cause that sound?

BTH, thanks for the heads up. I had the "buzz" flash done last week after the recommendations from this forum. With 92k miles and warranty almost history, think I will stick with the "buzz" until the jury is out on the latest flash.

I don't understand why Ford doesn't COMBINE this technique with the shutdown cycle technique; to absolutely ensure a clean injector upon startup. They both work on totally different principles and will work well together; then again I don't think anyone knows for sure if they are actually deleting the shutdown cycling or if they are simply adding this to it; so who knows.

I do have one technical worry about this...will the small gauge wiring inside the spool valve coils hold up the continuous current well? For some reason I have my concerns about valve coil integrity and longetivity.
